Cornet, Gnagnon get Ivory Coast call
Ligue 1 stars Maxwel Cornet and Joris Gnagnon have been called up to the Ivory Coast squad for international matches next month.
Cornet of Olympique Lyonnais and Stade Rennais FC defender Gnagnon (pictured) have been named in a squad of 27 by new Elephants coach Marc Wilmots, the Belgian, for a friendly against the Netherlands and a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at home to Guinea in early June.
They join the likes of Paris Saint-Germain's Serge Aurier, Ismaël Traoré and Nicolas Pépé of Angers SCO, Cheick Doukouré of FC Metz and Jean Michaël Séri of OGC Nice in the squad. Gnagnon's Rennes colleague Giovanni Sio also features.
Cornet has been capped five times by France at under-21 level while strapping defender Gnagnon has played for France under-20s but recently revealed his desire to play international football for the Ivory Coast.
