Cyprien set for Nice return
Wylan Cyprien is set to make his comeback after nine months out injured when OGC Nice take on Vitesse Arnhem in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.
The 22-year-old midfielder was named in Nice's squad for the trip to the Netherlands in their final outing in Europa League Group K. And with Nice already certain to qualify for the round of 32 in second place behind Lazio, the occasion is perfect for coach Lucien Favre to bring Cyprien back.
He was one of the outstanding young players in Ligue 1 last season but has not played since rupturing the cruciate ligament in his right knee in the second half of a 2-2 draw at home to SM Caen on March 10.
Cyprien has so far played an hour of a reserve game in the fourth division and also half of a friendly match. The former RC Lens player should now start at the GelreDome, with Favre also expected to give run-outs to the likes of Racine Coly and Jean-Victor Makengo. Several regulars, including Mario Balotelli, were left behind in Nice ahead of this weekend's Ligue 1 Conforama clash with FC Nantes.
