Didier Deschamps (Marseille coach): "I think in the first half we were not bad at all though Bayern had some quality moments too. We had a good chance after six minutes but then conceded just before half time and that hurt us. It is hard to come back from a goal down. We were obviously disappointed that goal really hurt us. Then it was very difficult for us in the second half, they are a great team. We played with a lot of heart and togetherness but you could see there was a gap in quality. That is understandable as we are talking about Bayern Munich. Before the goal there was a blatant hand-ball which lead to the end result, yet there are five referees. There is still a chance but it is tiny."
Alou Diarra (Marseille midfielder): It is really disappointing. We knew the importance of the first leg. We have not improved our chances of qualifying. What is really disappointing is the way we conceded the goals. We should be able to do better, I am thinking especially about the second goal. We got ahead of ourselves and lost the ball. With the quality players Bayern have, they made us pay. It is a shame because otherwise it wasn't too bad. We need to cut out the errors which are penalising us.
Frank Ribery (Bayern Munich forward): "It was funny to return to France and even more so to come back to Marseille. The fans gave me a hard time, which wasn't easy but that is football for you. Personally, I thought it might be hard to come back here but I have been a professional for nine year and I can keep things under wraps. It isn't a big deal that I didn't score what matters is that we won here. It is always hard to win here even if OM are in a bit of a slump. We won 2-0 but there remains the second leg and we will need to be on our game. It was a very good result this evening but we must not start thinking about any hypothetical semi-final with Real Madrid."
