France reactions - Deschamps: 'No let-up'

Les Bleus

FIFA World Cup 2018 qualifying Group A

Levski Stadium, Sofia

 Bulgaria 0-1 France

Didier Deschamps (France coach):
"We started well in the first half by scoring, and we even had a chance to make it 2-0. The second half was harder. It's true that it was a fight, and we need to do better. France rarely win here [the last French victory on Bulgarian soil was in 1932]. We wanted to get the three points on the board. We could have made the match easier but we knew how to defend our goal. Now we need a win on Tuesday night [against Belarus]. A victory means the World Cup, which is something fabulous. The players are aware of this. There will be no let-up."

Blaise Matuidi (France goalscorer): "It's a great win. Bulgaria had four wins at home. We knew it would be difficult and it was. But we played like men. We were warriors. It wasn't very nice to look at it but the important thing was to win. We're on our way to the World Cup. There is one final battle. We'll do everything to win it."

Kylian Mbappé (France forward): "We can't hide from the fact that it wasn't a great match, but we had to go there and get the result, which we did. We have to get used to playing with each other. We have to adapt. It can be frustrating but it will work because we have a common goal."

Adrien Rabiot (France midfielder): "It was hard enough because it was cold! I was a bit worried about getting injured on that surface. But you play for the team. We had to dig in."
