Genesio: 'Character and heart'
Olympique Lyonnais coach Bruno Genesio liked what he saw as his side hung onto a 2-1 lead to win past Montpellier and into the Coupe de France quarters; opposite number Michel der Zakarian was left ruing poor choices.

Coupe de France, Round of 16
Stade de la Mosson, Montpellier
Montpellier Hérault SC 1 - 2 Olympique Lyonnais
Michel Der Zakarian (Montpellier Hérault SC coach): "If we had been more effective, we would have won it. Pushing Lyon around the way we did and not winning is just infuriating. The choices we made destroyed our scoring chances. To win, you have to punish your opponent."
Bruno Genesio (Olympique Lyonnais coach): "We enjoyed some good fortune but I really appreciated the solidarity and sacrifice of my team to hang onto this result against a solid Montpellier side. We showed character and heart. I saw the side of my team that I like to see."
Stade Saint-Symphorien, Metz
FC Metz 2 - 2 SM Caen - Caen won 3-2 on penalties
Quentin Beunardeau (FC Metz 'keeper): "I'm disappointed because this match didn't need to go to penalties. We were a man up. We had a chance to really pull it off and we didn't get it done. It's a infuriating because we had the match under control. We played some good football - some really good football even. It augurs well for the rest of the league season."
Patrice Garande (SM Caen coach): "There were two matches tonight. Until the red card, we were more or less in control. After that, they equalised and the match moved into another phase. The lads showed a lot of quality and mental strength. We're very happy to be headed into the quarters, as it builds on what we achieved against Nantes in the league. Tonight's match had all the charm of the cup: goals, comebacks and a nail-biting penalty shoot-out."
Stade Bollaert, Lens
RC Lens - ESTAC Troyes
Jean-Louis Garcia (ESTAC Troyes coach): "We had some chances and so did Lens, but we were dominated in the second half. You have to take your chances. After the goal, I felt a certain resignation creep into my team and that worried me. You can't let team spirit and fighting spirit go like that. We have to do more."
