Coupe de France, Round of 16

Stade de la Mosson, Montpellier

Montpellier Hérault SC 1 - 2 Olympique Lyonnais

Last season's losing finalists Lyon went another step closer to the Stade de France with a canny performance in the south-west, Bruno Genesio's men doing the damage in the first half through Maxwel Cornet (13') and Nabil Fekir (27') and then holding out to make Jonathan Ikoné's 22nd-minute strike a mere consolation.

Michel Der Zakarian's side had more to say in the second half, peppering the Lyon goal, but Portugal international 'keeper Anthony Lopes was up to the task and denied gilt-edged chances for Casimir Ninga (61') and Nordi Mukiele (81') before OL captain Nabil Fekir blazed over from close range with the match's last dangerous moment.

Stade Saint-Symphorien, Metz

FC Metz 2 - 2 SM Caen  - Caen win 3-2 on penalties

SM Caen won through to their first Coupe de France quarter-final in 20 years, but it was no walk in the park for Patrice Garande's men, who needed extra-time - played without the sent-off Hervé Bazile (84') - and penalties to get the better of a feisty FC Metz outfit.

Timo Stavitski drew first blood for the visitors after a goalless first half (51') but Metz levelled through Ibrahima Niane (85') and forced extra-time. Nolan Roux then put the hosts in front (108') but the match went penalties after Ismaël Diomandé made it 2-2 with six minute left.

Both sides missed their opening penalty shots but Frédéric Guilbert kept his nerve and swept home the winning penalty, completing ten-man SM Caen's passage into the quarters.

Stade Bollaert, Lens

RC Lens - ESTAC Troyes  - kick-off at 18:30 CET

RC Lens made their way into the next round of the competition with a 1-0 win at home to Ligue 1 Conforama's ESTAC Troyes, Cristian Lopez bagging the only goal of a tight match 20 minutes from time as he pounced on Mamadou Samassa's poor parry of a Brice Dja Djédjé shot (70').

Lopez, Lens' top scorer with eight league goals this campaign, missed a string chances earlier in the match (19', 50', 60') but the failure of the Troyes defence to react gave him the time he needed to beat the otherwise excellent Samassa and send his side through to the quarter-finals for the first time since 2014.
