Coupe de France, Round of 32
Stade de la Meinau, Strasbourg
RC Strasbourg Alsace 2 - 1 LOSC
Mali international Yves Bissouma gave Christophe Galtier's LOSC a glimmer of hope when he pilled one back with a fierce drive to make it 2-1 early in the second half (54'), but LOSC couldn't find another goal, their imprecision on a choppy pitch costing them a place in the next round.
Strasbourg made all the early running and had a deserved 2-0 lead 48 minutes in, with club top scorer Nuno Da Costa bagging the only goal of the first half (31') before Idriss Saadi made it 2-0 early in the second half (48').
Strasbourg hold firm
However, Thierry Laurey's men struggled for much of the second term as LOSC pushed hard, with Ezequiel Ponce going the closest to a leveller (64') after Bissouma's superb strike, but fate smiled on the home side as they held out for the win and a round-of-16 clash with Ligue 2 side Grenoble.
Strasbourg and LOSC will do it all again on Sunday afternoon when they meet at the Stade Pierre Mauroy in Ligue 1 Conforama with the home side looking to flip their cup result and climb out of the drop zone with a win.
