Falcao takes Monaco into final

Coupe de la Ligue

AS Monaco will face Paris Saint-Germain in April's final of the Coupe de la Ligue after beating AS Nancy Lorraine 1-0 in the semi-finals on Wednesday.

AS Monaco  1 - 0  AS Nancy Lorraine

Semi-finals are often close affairs and this game at the Stade Louis II was ultimately decided by a single goal. It was not one that Nancy goalkeeper Guy Roland Ndy Assembé will want to see again, as he completely misjudged a ball into the box, letting it bounce over his head and allowing Radamel Falcao to nod into an empty net.

The goal came in stoppage time at the end of the first half and was Falcao's 18th in all competitions of what is proving to be a fine campaign.

Nancy had arguably been the better team before that moment and Ndy Assembé partially redeemed himself with a good stop from Djibril Sidibé early in the second period.

Julien Cétout should have done better than fire just past after playing a one-two with Modou Diagne and Antony Robic came close late on, but Nancy could not find an equaliser.

The final itself, between two of the powerhouses of the French game and at the Parc OL, promises to be a cracker.

THE PLAYER: Guy Roland Ndy Assembé

The goal was a horror show for the Cameroonian goalkeeper. Nancy put up a good fight against Leonardo Jardim's side, but such errors will be punished by players of the quality of Falcao.
