For the very first time in France, the opening ceremony of the Coupe de la Ligue will take place at a sold-out Parc OL - the first big moment of a night not to be missed!
True to its commitment to innovation, the Coupe de la Ligue is this year offering spectators at the final a spectacle never before seen at a French footballing event: an opening ceremony of light and sound in a stadium plunged into darkness for the occasion.
For seven minutes, 200 young athletes from the Lyon region - selected by charities FondaCtion du Football and UNSS - will cover the pitch with their luminous performance. It will be an extraordinary opportunity for these youngsters aged 13-18 to take the field just minutes before the players emerge and the final kicks off.
To make this spectacle possible, the LFP turned to the expertise of Circo de Bakuza, the Franco-Canadian agency that produced all the ceremonies for UEFA Euro 2016 as well as the last three UEFA Champions League finals.
The spectators will also be able to take part in the spectacle and become actors in it. To do so, they can simply download the Parc OL app, in which they can choose to fly the colours of their team on their phone (red and white for AS Monaco, red and blue for PSG, or the blue and gold of the Coupe de la Ligue for the undecided). This new technology, developed by start-up YPPA, will illuminate the Parc OL with thousands of little lights.
The opening ceremony will culminate with the presentation of the Coupe de la Ligue trophy to the fans by Tony Estanguet, the Committee Co-president of Paris' bid to stage the 2024 Olympics. Then it will be time for the stars of AS Monaco and PSG to take the field and do battle in this highly anticipated final!
