PSG moved swiftly through to the semi-finals of the League Cup thanks to a 4-0 battering of Valenciennes at the Parc des Princes.
The capital club have now made it two successive home wins in a row and can look forward to the rest of the season with renewed vigour.
The rout started after just two minutes when Pauleta struck from the penalty spot following a handball by VAFC defender David Sommeil. The match further sprang into life courtesy of the sending-off of Mario Yepes for a last man lunge on Filip Sebo.
Importantly, PSG managed to hold on until half-time. And after the break, PSG rammed home their superiority with three more goals within 13 minutes.
First, Amara Diané doubled his team's lead with a finely timed header before beating Nicolas Penneteau again six minutes later.
Jérôme Rothen then completed the scoring on 70 minutes catching Valenciennes on the counter-attack. The visitors had their moments but failed to find the same level of ruthlessness as employed by their hosts.
As a result, PSG will now go on to play Auxerre in the semi-finals on February 26/27.
