Coupe de la Ligue, Round of 16

The Stadium, Toulouse

Toulouse FC 2 - 0 Girondins de Bordeaux

Bordeaux were looking for a first win in all competitions since their 3-0 triumph over Saint-Etienne on September 23, but it wasn't to be for Jocelyn Gourvennec's men, who succumbed to their Garonne derby rivals with goals from Max-Alain Gradel (36', pen.) and Ola Toivonen (54').

It was a tight affair until Gradel broke the deadlock from the spot, coolly converting his second penalty in three days after Lukas Lerager had scythed speedy winger Corentin Jean down in the area.

Shut out

With former Marseille man Gianni Imbula running the show for Toulouse in midfield, Bordeaux struggled to find a way back from the goal and were shut out completely when Sweden international Toivonen turned Christopher Jullien's header into the back of the net less than ten minutes into the second half.

The defeat leaves Bordeaux - who could have taken a shock lead in the first minute had François Kamano's point-blank effort not been saved off the line by Kelvin Amian - once again headed back to the drawing board ahead of tough league clashes win Nice and at home to Montpellier before the winter break.

Stade Raymond Kopa, Angers

 Angers SCO 1 - 0 FC Metz

Meanwhile Angers SCO managed to halt their skid of seven without a win in all competitions (four defeats) by getting the better of FC Metz 1-0 at the Stade Raymond Kopa.

Both sides had chances in the first half - Loïc Puyo heading narrowly over for the hosts (15') and Thill (35') and Niane (37') returning fire - but it was Angers who made the break in the second, half-time substitute Angelo Fulgini conjuring a bobbing, weaving long-range effort that left Didillon little chance (52').

Despite a dangerous shot from Benoît Assou-Ekotto (80'), FC Metz couldn't come up with an answer to Fulgini's wonder strike and Angers got the win that has been eluding them, booking a place in the quarters in the process.
