PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi said he was proud of his team after clinching a fifth Ligue 1 title overall, whilst Paris' performances even attracted the attention of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi (PSG president): "Tonight, I am very happy. It's a great night for everyone. I am very proud of my players, my coach, and our fans who have always been there in the difficult times. Now there is still a title to go for in the Coupe de France, which will make it four trophies this season. Winning in Montpellier? I have great respect for President (Louis) Nicollin, a great respect for this club, and this city. I am very proud of my players because it has been a very difficult season with lots of matches. PSG are really a great team, who responded with great moments."

Laurent Blanc (PSG coach): "Winning a third consecutive league title gives us a lot of joy. It was difficult to achieve this. Many in the press have been negative but we still took big points throughout the season and that made the difference. I predicted and hoped PSG would be champions, and we are. Criticism doesn't not make the title any sweeter. We had adversity in the first half of the season for various reasons. I always had confidence in the group of players I had though. I want to thank my staff. They worked hard. I cannot tell you if this is the beginning of a dynasty like Lyon's in the early 2000s, but I can say that we are not stopping here. We want to continue to progress and improve, whether that's players, staff, or managers. We well assess the season once it is over. We still have the Coupe de France final against Auxerre. The way we played at the start of this year after our break in Marrakech was crucial. To be technically proficient you need to be fit. I am learning all the time."

Thiago Silva (PSG captain):
"This is not a good team, it is a very good team. I am happier this year than last year. We played a lot of matches, it is always difficult, especially mentally, but in the end we managed to still win a title. It's always special to win a title, but especially this season. We missed out on the Champions League, but we will try to win that next season. We who are playing know it is always very difficult to win. We hear that it's easy, but we had to work hard. We must continue to work. For Laurent Blanc, when you're at the head of a great team, it's normal to be criticised all the time. He did many good things this season, we must pay tribute to him and to all the staff. After losing the World Cup at home, it was hard to start playing, but in the end I managed to do good things, and we must continue like that."

Blaise Matuidi (PSG midfielder): "It's really a very good season for us. There were complicated times but we were able to bounce back and we are alive and well. We showed that we were the best team in the league. Now we can do something historic. We will try to win the Coupe de France and it will be a very good season for us."

Maxwell (PSG defender): "It's always special. It's been a very long season, harder mentally than last season because we suffered a lot, but in the end we succeeded in the championship. There is still the Coupe de France to look forward to. We can make history. We will celebrate winning the league, because we deserved it, and then we will focus on the Coupe de France. This is a great happiness because this season was very long, very hard, it took a lot of work. Being champion is never normal, it's always something great. I hope we will stay together next season."

Javier Pastore (PSG midfielder): "This result is great. It has not been easy to win three titles. What we did is good, we are very happy. We ended very well this year. There has been criticism, but the important thing is to win titles. There is still a great final ahead and a chance to win the three titles. It is very important to us. Now we will go to Paris to celebrate with the family. "

Nicolas Sarkozy (former French President): "A championship in France is always difficult to conquer. Montpellier played a very good match, there was a great atmosphere, I was very happy to be there. It is a beautiful title. And above all, it's been a very exciting championship, that's what counts too. If we want French clubs to win in Europe tomorrow we have to reflect on the organisation of our clubs. Paris brought a lot of happiness to all those who came to the Parc de Princes and those who watched it on television. I think the leaders of Paris Saint-Germain, including Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Laurent Blanc did an incredible job and withstood all criticism."
