Paris Saint-Germain / Grenoble Foot 38 : 0 - 1
PSG were without captain Claude Makelele, nursing a hamstring strain, as they went looking for a third consecutive home win of the season and bounce back from last weekend's 1-0 defeat away to Saint-Etienne.
While Grenoble were also looking for a return to form after consecutive home defeats to Bordeaux, 1-0 in the league, and Nancy, 3-2 in Wednesday's League Cup clash - but were without equal top scorer Daniel Moreira with a fractured thumb and left-back Martial Robin, suspended.
The home side had the better of the opening 45 minutes with Guillaume Hoarau (20' and 34'), Ludovic Giuly (36') and Mateja Kezman (44') all spurning gilt-edged chances to open the scoring as Grenoble failed to draw a save from Mickaël Landreau in the hosts' goal.
In a far more even second half and with the game seemingly headed for a hard-fought, if uninspired scoreless draw, Akrour pulled a wonderful winner out of the bag with 15 minutes left to play.
The surprise effect
Inheriting a Sofiane Faghouli pass, the 34-year-old Algerian international turned and shot, surprising Landreau with an effort which lobbed the France 'keeper from 22 metres out.
PSG coach Paul Le Guen brought on attacking options Fabrice Pancrate and Peguy Luyindula late on, but despite showing more urgency in the closing stages, the home side were unable to conjure and equaliser.
The win sees Grenoble move into the third on the standings ahead of Sunday's final Week 7 matches, while the capital club's first home loss of the season sees them drop to tenth ahead of next Thursday's UEFA Cup first round second leg match against Turkish side Kayserispor.
