Houssem Aouar struck right at the death as Olympique Lyonnais snatched a 2-1 victory away to Amiens SC at the Stade de la Licorne on Sunday.

Amiens SC  1 - 2  Olympique Lyonnais

THE MATCH

Amiens had gone eight matches unbeaten in all competitions before their run was ended in a 2-0 defeat away to Stade Rennais FC last time out. However, they had not lost a home game since mid-September and they went ahead here inside nine minutes. Neither Marcelo nor Jérémy Morel were able to cut out Danilo Avelar's cross from the home left, and Serge Gakpé took full advantage to tap into an empty net.

Lyon then had the ball in the net from a Memphis Depay free-kick delivery from the left flank that evaded everyone on its way in. However, the effort was disallowed as referee Olivier Thual spotted an offside in the area (19').

Anthony Lopes saved from Gakpé moments later at the other end and there was little goalmouth action after that until Lyon equalised. Aouar started the move, cutting in from the left and then carrying on his run to finish from substitute Tanguy Ndombele's cutback (79').

Kakuta penalty miss

That only sparked a dramatic finish to the game, however. Amiens were gifted a chance to win the game when Lucas Tousart wrestled Avelar to the ground in the box but Gaël Kakuta's penalty came back off the post (89').

After surviving that scare, Lyon went on to grab all three points. The clock had just ticked over the allotted three minutes of added time when Mariano Díaz held a ball up to the back post for Aouar, who beat Regis Gurtner with a cushioned finish on his left foot.

The win ensures Lyon climb back above AS Monaco on goal difference in the Ligue 1 table, while Amiens remain in mid-table but are only three points clear of the bottom three.

THE PLAYER: Houssem Aouar

The 19-year-old was the hero for OL with two late goals to turn the game on its head. What a talent he is, and his emergence is proof that Lyon's academy continues to churn out exciting young players.

THE STAT: 5

As in the number of consecutive wins away from home in the league for Bruno Genesio's side, who travel to Montpellier Hérault SC in the Coupe de la Ligue in midweek.
