ASSE lift as Caen are seen off
Under-pressure Saint-Etienne were boosted by a 2-1 home win over Caen as Les Verts came from behind.
AS Saint-Etienne 2-1 SM Caen
Caen failed to win a match for the first time when they opened the scoring this season. Ronny Rodelin scored his fifth of the season in the 11th minute, smashing home the ball with his left foot after Ivan Santini have flicked on a Frédéric Guilbert cross.
Patrice Garande's team were close to going two ahead when Stef Peeters struck the post from a free-kick. Damien Da Silva was near to turning the ball in. Paul-Georges Ntep equalised ten minutes from half-time when he side-footed home from a Kevin Monnet-Paquet cross.
Rémy Cabella had an attempt turned away at the start of the second half by Vercoutre, while at the other end Stéphane Ruffier kept out Santini on two occasions. 12 minute from time Bamba popped up with his sixth goal of the season, only his second non-penalty strike of the campaign.
ASSE nearly added to their lead through Robert Beric and then Bamba but a combination of wayward finishing and good goalkeeping prevented the third goal.
