Mauro Cetto has declared himself "delighted" to be back in Ligue 1 after sealing a six-month loan move to champions LOSC Lille Métropole.

The Argentine played for FC Nantes and Toulouse FC in 209 top-flight matches between 2001 and last summer before moving to Italian club Palermo. However, with his time in Italy restricted largely to the bench or the stands, the 29-year-old seized the opportunity to return to France.

"The chance to join Lille was something that I jumped at," he said. "Lille are growing year on year. They're the French champions and have great facilities, a high-quality squad and an effective coach. It's a club that has a great future, but they're already working perfectly well."

Having spent a decade in France, Cetto admitted he would have few problems fitting in. "Already, I'm lucky to be able to speak French fluently, and having played here for so many years, I know it well," said the centre-back, who is likely to step into the first team in place of the injured Marko Basa against AS Saint-Etienne this weekend. "As I've played against a number of the squad already, that should make things easier. My new team-mates are nice. There'll be no problems. I played with Mickaël Landreau at Nantes, and I'm sure he'll give me some advice, and that will help my integration."
