Clasico Reactions Special
09/04/2012
Paris Saint-Germain's Brazilian defender Alex expressed his delight at marking his first Clasico appearance with the winning goal. OM's Stéphane Mbia left the French capital disappointed as he believed the visitors played "very well".
Alex (Paris Saint-Germain defender): "It was a very important win, because that was a very tough match. I'm very happy to have scored the second goal that was really capital for us this evening. We join Montpellier this evening and we need to go on with it now. Before this game everyone spoke to me about the Clasico and how important it was to win it so I'm very happy to have succeeded."
Nene (Paris Saint-Germain midfielder): "It's a good night for us tonight. We all worked very hard, especially defensively and at the end, we were rewarded with a very important victory. I hope we can continue on this dynamic until the end of the season. We now have seven matches left and we need to take a maximum of points. We're all going to give it 100% to win this Ligue 1 crown."
Salvatore Sirigu (Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper): "It's a match unlike any other I've learnt. We lost 3-0 at their place and they deserved to win 3-0. I think both sides were good but we put our heart into it and showed our will to win. The Clasico was important not just because it was the Clasico but because we moved on to 63 points level with Montpellier. That's the important thing."
Stéphane Mbia (Marseille defender): "We were strong in the 50-50s, we were fine in the game in the first half and controlled it at the start of the second. They were a bit stronger today and we have to be modest and admit that. We'll try to focus on Wednesday's game against Montpellier. We're very disappointed because we played very well. We're still not collecting points and it's disappointing for a club like OM, very disappointing."
Alou Diarra (Marseille midfielder): "We're going through a tough spell. It's a pity because we showed some good things. We had quite a few chances and I think we deserved better. What's a real shame is the way we started the game because we really had the possibility of getting something from the game."
