Rafael Dias scored his first ever Ligue 1 goal to help lowly Sochaux-Montbéliard draw 2-2 with Girondins de Bordeaux at the Stade Chaban-Delmas.

Girondins de Bordeaux 2-2 FC Sochaux-Montbéliard

Because of Dias's timely strike just three minutes before the end of the macth Bordeaux missed the chance to move up to second in the table behind Lyon who had won earlier in the day at home against champions Montpellier.

From kick=off it had all started so brightly for the the hosts as they set about protecting their unbeaten home record that stretchs back to a week 26 defeat against Nice in March. With Nicolas Maurice-Belay and Jussiê causing problems with deft touches and good positioning Bordeaux looked the most likely to open the scoring early on.

Sochaux strike first

But it was Sochaux who gave their fans something to shout about when Loic Poujol lobbed Cédric Carrasso with a looping header (33') and given Bordeaux's early dominance to say it was against the run of play would be an understaement.

The advantage was not to last long and Les Girondins' response came kust six minutes later. Benoît Trémoulinas made a typically rampaging run down the left and tried to pick out Jussiê. The Brazilian's header was off target but he needn't have worried as the unfortunate Jérôme Roussillon steered the ball past Simon Pouplin in goal (36').

Momentum swing

The momentum had swung back Bordeaux's way and early in the second half Yoan Gouffran looked to have swung the balance when he scored his seventh goal of the season after more good build up play from Trémoulinas and Jussiê (47').

Bordeaux then looked to close out the match, Gouffran had a decent chance with 20 minutes to go, his effort took a wicked deflection that Pouplin did well to keep out. As the clock ticked down the points looked assured for Bordeaux.

But with less than five minutes remaining Marc Planus cynically blocked a Sochaux attack and the visitors were awarded a free-kick just outside the penalty box. Dias had only been on the park for four minutes and despite having played less than 15 minutes of Ligue 1 football this season showed no sign of nerves and fired home to nick the  point (87') and stay in touch with 17th placed Troyes who also drew.
