Dijon secure promotion
Dijon FCO celebrated winning promotion to Ligue 1 on Friday without kicking a ball.
The Burgundy side are top of Ligue 2 and are now guaranteed a top-three finish after results elsewhere went their way on Friday evening.
Fourth-place Le Havre AC could only draw 1-1 away to Evian-Thonon-Gaillard and can no longer catch Dijon, while defeats for RC Lens and Red Star FC ensured that they cannot catch Olivier Dall'Oglio's side either.
Dijon have four matches still to play, starting with Saturday's trip to AJ Auxerre, as they look to fend off AS Nancy-Lorraine and win the title. In the meantime, they can now start planning for life back in Ligue 1, a level they last graced in 2011-12.
"The club has grown at every level because there was a desire to get back into the elite," said Dall'Oglio. "We will be among the more modest sides, as is often the case for the promoted teams."
