Emery: 'PSG showed heart'
Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery praised the "heart" the reigning Ligue 1 champions showed in securing a last-gasp win at FC Metz on Tuesday.
FC Metz 2 - 3 Paris Saint-Germain
Unai Emery (Paris Saint-Germain coach): "We controlled 80% of the game. In the end, the result is good for us. Our aim was to use the confidence that we have to hold on to the result and create more of a difference. But on the pitch, our opponents play too and can score at any moment and get into the game, which is what happened. The Metz fans pushed after the first goal, which quickly led to the second. At that moment, we needed to play with heart in the final minutes to get the three points. The team played the last four minutes with the attitude that we wanted to win. What we have to retain is that we mustn't let our opponents back into the match. We're happy with the three points. What happened on the pitch, there were some positives and also some things to learn."
Philippe Hinschberger (Metz coach): "We could have taken all three points, we would have settled for one, but we ended up with none and that's disappointing. Our first half was lukewarm, we watched Paris play and lacked aggression. I had asked for more determination in the second half. Paris perhaps forgot to press on the accelerator and we took advantage. I don't have any regrets, because some players needed a rest and we were two centimetres from winning. We saw an ambitious FC Metz in the second half, the kind we want to see for the rest of the season."
