EPL clubs circling Aubameyang
20/03/2013
Saint-Etienne's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is almost certain to leave at the end of the season, such is the interest in the 16-goal Gabon international from Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City as well as other big European clubs.
Aubameyang has gone from strength to strength under Christophe Glatier at Saint-Etienne, and his outstanding performances this season - he has scored eight goals in his last eight appearances, and had seven assists - haven't gone unnoticed across the Channel, where some of the English Premier League's biggest clubs are looking to snap up the 23-year-old striker.
It begins...
Manchester City Football Development Executive and France legend Patrick Vieira is said to be following the player very closely, Aubameyang's father (former Gabon international Pierre, who played for Toulouse and Nice among other clubs) has visited Tottenham's facilities and Chelsea have already contacted Saint-Etienne to register their interest in the player who is under contract until June 2016.
But the interest in luring Aubameyang away from the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard isn't limited to England, with Dortmund and Fiorentina also impressed by his leading Les Verts' charge for a long-awaited return to European football.
Still a chance for Les Verts
Indeed, qualification for the Champions League - which is entirely within Saint-Etienne's grasp should they prove capable of continuing their unbeaten start to 2013 - would be perhaps the only way that Saint-Etienne could hope to hold onto the inspirational ex-AC Milan striker as a bidding war for his services starts to build.
