Gourcuff doubt for PSG showdown
22/02/2012
Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Yoann Gourcuff is facing a race against time to be fit for this weekend's clash with Paris Saint-Germain
Due to injuries and a dip in form it has been a disappointing season so far for Gourcuff. The former Bordeaux star has started just six league games - his last coming before Christmas against Valenciennes. To add to his woes it looks as if a fresh injury will keep him out of Sunday's clash with the league leaders.
Gourcuff was unable to train on Tuesday due to a groin problem while defender Dejan Lovren also sat out the session because of an ankle knock . There was some good news, though, for coach Rémi Garde and that was the return of John Mensah. The Ghana centre-back has recently come back from African Cup of Nations duty and should by available for selection this weekend.
PSG boost
Conversely, PSG have been boosted by the fact that defenders Alex and Milan Bisevac and the midfielder Mathieu Bodmer all trained on Tuesday. Bodmer, who missed Sunday's 2-2 draw with Montpellier at the Parc des Princes looks like he has shrugged off his thigh injury. Serbian international Bisevac has recovered from the arm injury he sustained after tangling with Montpellier's Olivier Giroud and Alex, who opened the scoring on Sunday with his first goal for the club since joining from Chelsea in January, is fit again despite concern that he had damaged his groin.
Midfielder Christophe Jallet (thigh injury) is the only memeber of Carlo Ancelotti's squad who is unavailable.
