MY LIGUE 1: BAFETIMBI GOMIS

17/03/2018
Ahead of Sunday's Olympico, former OL and OM striker Bafétimbi Gomis looks back at some of the best moments of his time in Ligue 1.
BEST GOAL: "The first one (for AS Saint-Etienne), because it's unforgettable. It was against Strasbourg, Sébastien Mazure crossed and I threw myself at the ball. I scored and then everything went crazy in my head. At that moment it truly sunk in that I was living my dream. Then I thought to myself, you've done this once, now you can keep on scoring and forge a great career."
BEST MOMENT: "It was last year, my last goal for Marseille, against Bastia. It was a tough season but that goal qualified us for Europe. It was also my 20th league goal and that was important for me."
WORST MOMENT: "I would say it's when I was banished from the first team at Lyon. I was partly responsible for what happened, but it was a bit of a sorry episode. The thing is I actually have some good memories of training with the under 23s, I got to see just how good the next generation were before anyone else. Corentin Tolisso among others."
BEST TEAMMATE: "Mouhamadou Dabo, because he was my room-mate at the Saint-Etienne academy. He's now my son's godfather. We share much more than just football, he's like a brother to me."
BEST PLAYER: "The best player for me, and it's just my opinion, was Florian Thauvin."
BEST ATMOSPHERE: "That’s a tough one, I really enjoyed the fervour at Saint-Etienne, but I think I'd have to say the Velodrome."
