Neymar has made a stunning start to his Paris Saint-Germain career, with three goals and as many assists to his name before the Ligue 1 Conforama table-toppers welcome AS Saint-Etienne to the Parc des Princes.

The Brazilian - who completed a world-record €222 million transfer from Barcelona to PSG at the beginning on August - has hit the ground running in the French capital, with his brace in Sunday's 6-2 destruction of Toulouse FC meaning he has had a direct hand in six goals since his arrival, or, to put it another way: within every half-hour he has played.

Top of the pile

The win over Le Téfécé also left Paris top of the table on goal-difference. Defending champions AS Monaco, as well as Friday's visitors Sainté, also have a perfect three wins from three, but Unai Emery's men have scored three more than the former and six more than the latter to lead the way.

"It was a spectacular game for the supporters who saw a lot of great goals," effused the PSG coach at his post-match press conference. "It's good for the league and it's good for us. We don't want to concede goals at home, but we will continue to learn and continue to improve."

Resilient Ruffier

Neymar may be on fire, but ASSE are a team who know a thing or two about not conceding, with Stéphane Ruffier's net yet to bulge this season. Les Verts have been a difficult proposition since Oscar Garcia - another former Barcelona player - took the helm in June, proving that their opening day win over OGC Nice was no fluke with subsequent victories - and clean sheets - against SM Caen and Amiens SC.

"Not everything is perfect as I want us to play even better, and we need time for that," said the 44-year-old Oscar, who led Red Bull Salzburg to back-to-back Austrian Bundesliga titles over the past two seasons. "But after a month-and-a-half of work, I'm happy with the attitude of my players. I think anyone would have taken making a start like this."

Great start

Saint-Etienne's results have been all the more impressive given that Kévin Monnet-Paquet, Vincent Pajot and Florentin Pogba - elder brother of the previous word record transfer, Paul - have been missing with Achilles tendon, thigh and ankle issues respectively since the start of the season.

PSG's only injury concern is Neymar's childhood friend Lucas Moura, who picked up a knock in training. But with Paris' new star shining bright, and Angel Di Maria and Javier Pastore also on hand to feed last season's top goalscorer Edinson Cavani, the capital club appear to be in rude health. Now to see if they can get the ball past Ruffier…

Probable teams:

Paris Saint-Germain: Areola; Kurzawa, Thiago Silva, Marquinhos, Daniel Alves; Rabiot, Thiago Motta, Pastore; Neymar, Cavani, Di Maria

AS Saint-Etienne: Ruffier; Gabriel Silva, L. Perrin, Théophile-Catherine, Pierre-Gabriel; Hernani, Selnaes, Br. Dabo; J. Bamba, Diony, Hamouma
