Neymar: 'Here to make history'
Neymar Jr insisted he is at Paris Saint-Germain "to make history" after scoring twice in Saturday's 4-0 win against Montpellier Hérault SC.
"I am calm, I am happy here with my friends and my team-mates," the Brazilian superstar told L'Equipe, denying any suggestions that he might have been unsettled at the Parc des Princes having missed PSG's previous two games.
"I cam here to make history, to give the best of myself and score lots of goals. Speculation will always exist. During my years at Barcelona, as you know very well, in every transfer window, there was something associated with my name. It is impossible to get away from it.
"I am happy, but good players are always at the heart of speculation."
Neymar's brace included a penalty, scored after Edinson Cavani's opener which allowed the Uruguayan to take his tally of goals for PSG to a club record 157. Neymar had also netted a penalty in the recent 8-0 win over Dijon, despite some sections of the Parc des Princes calling for Cavani to take it when he needed one goal to get the record.
The ex-Barcelona man added: "It was impossible not to know about Cavani's record. The coach has chosen me as the penalty-taker and there is no problem with that. The coach has decided and I need to take responsibility."
"We are happy that Cavani has broken the record. We knew he would get there at one moment or another. As for my responsibilities, I know what they are and I am not here to hide."
