Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar Jr has won the 2017 Gold Samba, the award for the best Brazilian player plying his trade in Europe, making it a hat-trick after wins in 2014 and 2015.

The Gold Samba is awarded each season by Brazilian football website Sambafoot and this 2017 nod is Neymar's third, taking him equal-top of the award's all-time honours list with compatriot and clubmate Thiago Silva. Neymar took out the 2017 Gold Samba with 27.71% of the vote, edging out Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho (16.64%) and Marcelo of Real Madrid (14.43%).

The 25-year-old had an excellent second half of the 2016-17 campaign with Barcelona before making a summer switch to Paris Saint-Germain and playing a key role in the Ligue 1 Conforama leaders' blistering start to the season.

Stunning stats

The uber-talented forward, who came in third in the 2017 Ballon d'Or behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, has racked up 11 goals and nine assists in 14 league starts for Unai Emery this season.

On top of that, he fired six goals in six European outings as Paris topped their group and will doubtless be looking for much more of the same as he and his capital-club teammates take on Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League's round of 16 in February.
