Nice move for Jallet
France right-back Christophe Jallet has signed on as a free agent with last season's third-placed side OGC Nice after reaching an agreement with former club Olympique Lyonnais to cancel the final year of his contract there.
Although the club did not reveal the duration of the deal, Jallet, 33, is now an Aiglon and will bring a wealth of French, European and international experience to Lucien Favre's squad as they look to build on their thrilling 2016-17 campaign.
The former Niort, Lorient, Paris and Lyon defender is a full France international (14 caps, one goal) and has 308 Ligue 1 appearances under his belt as he moves to the Côte d'Azur looking to make up for a 2016-17 campaign limited by injury - and competition with Brazil right-back Rafael - to just 13 appearances (one goal).
Jallet's arrival at the Allianz Riviera comes at just the right time for Favre, who has seen Portugal right-back Ricardo Pereira return to parent club Porto after a two-season loan and who needs an older head to share duties with promising young defensive prospect Arnaud Souquet, 25.
OGC Nice's season begins in late July as they contest a UEFA Champions League third qualifying round tie against Dutch giants AFC Ajax on Wednesday, July 26 (Allianz Riviera) and Wednesday, August 2 (Amsterdam Arena) in a bid for a place in the play-offs.
