Paris Saint-Germain's Brazil right-back Dani Alves underwent surgery for his anterior cruciate ligament injury in Paris on Tuesday.

Paris Saint-Germain star Dani Alves, who will miss out on the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia because of the injury he picked up as the capital club rounded out its domestic quadruple by winning the Coupe de France, went under the knife in Paris on Tuesday, the club announced on its official website.

A Brazil stalwart who arrived in Paris last summer, Alves "had surgery, performed by the orthopedic surgery team at Pitié-Salpêtrière in Paris, on his right knee", the club explained in a communiqué.

In fine form

"Time was taken before any intervention in order to obtain authorization for a surgical technique that would allow him a maximum reduction in recovery time," the communiqué continued.

Meanwhile, the Brazilian posted a photo on his Instagram account showing him on his feet, in a blue hospital gown with a hairnet over his eyes as if it were a super-hero mask. And the capital club joker's caption was a reassuring one: "A few hours ago, I began my journey to recovery and, thanks to God, everything went well. As you can see, the anaesthetic had no side effects on Good Crazy and everything is as normal. See you soon, faster stronger and even more Good Crazy!!"

Dani Alves has worn the Brazil armband on several occasions and has over 100 caps to his name. Alves has played for Europe's biggest clubs, including FC Barcelona and Juventus, on his way to becoming the most decorated footballer in history, with an impressive 38th major trophy claimed in the Coupe de France win in early May.
