Roux boosts Metz as they beat Nice

Ligue 1 Conforama > Match Reports

In-form Nolan Roux scored twice against ten-man Nice as the Lorraine club beat Les Aiglons to boost their survival hopes.

  FC Metz 2-1 OGC Nice

Moussa Niakhaté had done wonderfully well to deny Pierre Lees-Melou on 34 minutes before the Nice midfielder was dismissed four minutes later for a high challenge on Danijel Milicevic.

The red card opened the game up for Frédéric Hantz's Metz and they moved in front five minutes after the interval when Roux raced in behind a static visiting defence and unleashed an angled attempt which Walter Benitez could do nothing about.

Eight minutes later Nice equalised as Mario Balotelli beat Eiji Kawashima at the second attempt. In the process the Italian international moved on to 13 for the season to extend his club PB.

Metz have upped their game of late and made it four wins in their last seven outings as they ended Nice's unbeaten streak at eight games. Florent Mollet's ball in was met by Roux and although Benitez got a hand to it he couldn't keep it out

THE PLAYER: Nolan Roux

Roux has been involved in six of Metz's last nine Ligue 1 Conforama goals and has already matched his previous best top division haul of nine for the season.

Metz have won three straight Ligue 1 Conforama matches, more than they had in their previous 17 (5 draws, 10 losses).
