Senegal join the Ligue 1 club!
Senegalese broadcaster RDV has acquired the rights to show Ligue 1 matches in Senegal in a deal running until the end of season 2014-15.
Radio Dunyaa Vision (RDV), a part of the Excaf Communication Group, will show one match live on Friday nights (17:30 GMT) and a weekly highlights show of 52 minutes. Excaf Communication is a Senegalese media congolomerate composed of one general television station (RDV), a specialty channel (RDV Music and Sport), four radio stations and one print media concern.
Ligue 1 spreading
This landmark agreement sees Ligue 1 continue to develop its global reach, in sub-Saharan Africa in particular. The program aims to permit broadcasters to give their football-fan audience a free-to-air package that costs nothing and complements what the subscriber-based channels offer.
Currently Canal+ Afrique, Setanta Africa, Zuku TV, Sartimes and TV5 Monde comprise the other broadcasters of Ligue 1 in sub-Saharan Africa. For the first time, the LFP will hold the Trophée des Champions in sub-Saharan Africa later this year, when the Ligue 1 champions take on the Coupe de France winners at the Stade de l'Amitié in Gabon's Libreville on August 3.
