Statattack Week 15: Gomis raises the bar
Olympique Lyonnais striker Bafétimbi Gomis confirmed in Week 15 that this is proving to be the most prolific campaign of his career so far, as OGC Nice extended their unbeaten run and both Romain Alessandrini and Foued Kadir again stood out.
Key statistic for Week 15:
Bafétimbi Gomis: The French international striker has now taken his goals tally into double figures in seven consecutive seasons. However, with ten to his name in just 15 Ligue 1 matches in 2012-13, this is the best to a start to a campaign of his career. After scoring his first-ever hat-trick in the top flight in Lyon's 4-1 win at Marseille in a rescheduled Week 10 affair last Wednesday, Gomis notched his 82nd Ligue 1 goal in the 1-0 victory at home to Montpellier. Of all the players still active in Ligue 1, only Peguy Luyindula (86) and Ludovic Giuly (85) have scored more goals than Gomis.
5th: OGC Nice's 2-1 victory against Paris Saint-Germain allowed them to extend their unbeaten run to a fifth game. It was also their third win on the bounce. This is the south-coast club's best run since they won four in a row between October 24 and November 22, 2009.
4th: Stade Rennais FC recorded their fourth away win of the season when they beat ESTAC Troyes 3-2. It was also their third away win in a row, something the Bretons had not achieved in Ligue 1 since season 2007-2008, when they won four in succession between August 29 and October 28, 2007.
7th: OL's 1-0 home win against Montpellier was their seventh victory in eight matches at the Stade de Gerland this season. With 21 points from a possible 24, Rémi Garde's men have the best home record in Ligue 1. Lyon have scored 28 goals this season, giving them the best attack in the division along with Valenciennes. They have scored more goals at home (19) than any other team.
2: Joey Barton provided two assists in Marseille's 2-1 win at Brest in just his third Ligue 1 appearance. The Englishman also had four shots on goal during the game in Brittany, the most of any player on the pitch along with teammate Morgan Amalfitano.
5th: Stade Rennais FC midfielder Romain Alessandrini scored his fifth Ligue 1 goal as his side won at Troyes. He has now netted three times in the last four matchdays. Alessandrini had four shots on goal in the game in Champagne, more than any other player.
6th: Algerian international Foued Kadir scored his sixth goal of the season as Valenciennes beat Stade de Reims 1-0. It was his fourth goal in the last five matchdays. Kadir is the top-scoring midfielder in Ligue 1, and half of his goals have come in the first 15 minutes of games. His goal against Reims came after just six minutes.
