Statattack Week 22: Gomis close to record
OL striker Bafétimbi Gomis edged closer to a significant milestone after his strike at Valenciennes in Week 22.
Key Statistic for Week 22
84: Olympique Lyonnais striker Bafétimbi Gomis scored his 84th Ligue 1 goal in his side's 2-0 win at Valenciennes FC. The only player still playing in Ligue 1 to have scored more goals than the French international striker is Ludovic Giuly of FC Lorient, who has 85 goals to his name. Gomis has 12 goals to his name so far this season and has reached double figures in seven consecutive Ligue 1 campaigns. He is on course to beat his previous best tally for a campaign of 16 goals for AS Saint-Etienne in 2007-08.
1st: There was a first win since the opening day of the season for AS Nancy-Lorraine, who enjoyed a good night all round in their 2-1 defeat of FC Lorient. They played (653) and completed (536) more passes than in any other game this season.
3rd: For ESTAC Troyes, there was a third win of the campaign. Like the previous two victories, Troyes' win in Week 22 came at home, and by a one-goal margin. Their 2-1 win against Stade Brestois 29 means that they have now taken seven points from their last five Ligue 1 games. They sit in 11th place in the form table over that time, level with FC Lorient and AS Saint-Etienne. In real terms, however, they remain in the relegation zone, five points from safety.
8th: Montpellier Hérault SC are now unbeaten in their last eight Ligue 1 meetings with FC Sochaux-Montbéliard after beating Les Lionceaux 2-0 at the Stade de la Mosson. They have won seven and drawn one of those meetings, and have won the last four confrontations in a row, scoring at least twice in all of them.
3rd: Olympique de Marseille striker Jordan Ayew scored his third goal in as many games in his side's 2-2 draw at Stade Rennais FC. The Ghanaian now has seven goals to his name this season, having mustered just six in the last three campaigns put together.
83%: Henri Saivet scored his sixth goal in 19 games this season in Girondins de Bordeaux's 1-0 win at OGC Nice. Five of those goals, or 83 percent, have come away from home. He is now the club's leading scorer in Ligue 1 this season following the departure of eight-goal Yoan Gouffran to Newcastle United.
3rd: Sébastien Puygrénier got his third goal of the season as AS Nancy-Lorraine downed FC Lorient 2-1. The big centre-back now has 18 career Ligue 1 goals, making him the most prolific defender in the top flight with one more than Renato Civelli (Nice) and Sylvain Armand (PSG).
