Thiago Silva to miss Classique?

Paris Saint-Germain are sweating on medical exams for captain Thiago Silva, who was stretchered off in the 28th minute of Brazil's World Cup qualifier against Bolivia.

Thiago Silva, 33, was in the starting line-up for Brazil's match in Bolivia on Thursday, in for the injured Joao Miranda, but was forced off after just 27 minutes when he pulled up short with a thigh complaint that could see him miss the Classique - the all-important grudge match against arch-rivals Olympique de Marseille - at the Stade Vélodrome on October 22.

He was replaced by clubmate Marquinhos and the Selecao went on to record a 0-0 draw - without consequence as they had already secured their place at the finals in Russia next summer - but the severity of the injury to O Mostro's right thigh remains an unknown factor.

"Thiago felt pain in the back of his right thigh," said Brazil coach Tite after the game. "He couldn't continue. Early evaluations show a possible muscle injury. He will be re-evaluated in Sao Paulo and after we'll tell you what will be done."

The world-renowned stopper will almost certainly miss Brazil's final World Cup qualifier versus Chile on Tuesday, and PSG will doubtless be eagerly awaiting an update once the Sao Paulo re-evaluation has been effected.
