Bertrand Traoré's 63rd-minute goal was enough for Olympique Lyonnais to get back to winning ways in the league and avenge their Coupe de France quarter-final loss to Caen.

Olympique Lyonnais 1-0 SM Caen

THE MATCH

After a good win at CSKA Moscow in the Europa League on Thursday evening, Bruno Genesio's OL confirmed an upturn in their fortunes by seeing off Caen in a match that didn't exactly set the pulse racing.

It took 35 minutes for OL to carve out a real chance and Myziane Maolida, the young forward, had a shot deflect off Romain Genevois and then saved by Rémy Vercoutre. Three minutes into the second half Ferland Mendy, the OL full-back, unleashed a shot that cannoned off Vercoutre's post. The veteran former OL goalkeeper was well beaten by the effort.

Caen travel badly and have now won only one of their last 10 on the road. Patric Garande's team had an opportunity (58') when Vincent Bessat crossed for Enzo Crivelli and the attacker didn't do enough to test Anthony Lopes. The goalkeeper soon had to get down to deal with a Ronny Rodelin effort.

OL made the breakthrough (63') when Mendy's cross was met by Traoré, the Burkina Faso international forward finishing left-footed for his seventh league goal of the season. The home team had a double chance in the 86th minute when Mariano Diaz forced Vercoutre to save and then Maxwel Cornet shot wide. The three points placed OL two points back from Olympique de Marseille ahead of OM's game at Toulouse on Sunday evening.

THE PLAYER: Bertrand Traoré

In Nabil Fekir's ongoing absence through injury OL needed someone to step up and shoulder the goalscoring burden. Traoré took on that responsibility against Caen by scoring his first Ligue 1 Conforama goal since a double in the 2-2 draw at LOSC on February 18.

THE STAT: 6

Olympique Lyonnais put an end to their run of six Ligue 1 Conforama matches without a win.
