Senegalese defender Diawara pulled up late in the first half in Radès and tests he underwent on Thursday revealed that the former Bordeaux man would miss the start of the season.
Deschamps has made no secret of his desire to add Alou Diarra, the Bordeaux defensive midfielder, and a top-class striker to his squad but was swift to quash the rumours linking OM with Italian international forward Alberto Gilardino.

"I haven't contacted him, either directly or indirectly," said Deschamps. "Of course I know all about him. But I also know what he'd cost and he's inaccessible to us, otherwise I'd be interested in Torres as well…"
OM president Jean-Claude Dassier said: "Are we going to buy a great European striker for 20, 25 or 30 million euros? The answer is no. We have to wait and see what will happen. Opportunities may well open up, perhaps in the loan market."
