Join Chelsea captain and Spain international Cesar Azpilicueta as he talks us through his time in Ligue 1 Uber Eats back when Marseille were Ligue 1 Uber Eats champions under Didier Deschamps… Interview.

When Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta was still a Spain youth international, he made a splash in Ligue 1 Uber Eats, winning three trophies with Olympique de Marseille between 2010 and 2013 before moving across the Channel to Stamford Bridge.

BEST GOAL
"The only one I scored! Against Auxerre! I just received the ball and I shot from outside the box, which is not very useful for me so… it was just was nice to get a goal at the Vélodrome!"

BEST MEMORY
"I wanted to get the memory of winning the Ligue 1 but I couldn't, we finished second in my first year so I don't have any special memory!"

WORST MEMORY
"When I got injured against Montpellier… that was a Ligue 1 game, and that was a bad memory!"

BEST TEAM-MATE
"Lucho Gonzalez! Hatem Ben Arfa was there for a bit, and he was incredible, but then Lucho stayed and he was able to see the game and to score goals so he was very good for the team!"

TOUGHEST OPPONENT
"Yes, Hazard! When I was playing against him, when he was in Lille! He was difficult to catch yes!"

BEST ATMOSPHERE
"Is that a question? Ah it's an easy question, an easy answer! The Vélodrome is the best! Sometimes when we didn't win it was difficult but yes, yes, in general the atmosphere was amazing, the fans every game since the warm up they were there already, so it's the best atmosphere in Ligue 1 without any doubt!"

Azpilicueta clearly hasn't forgotten about those noisy nights he experienced at the Vélodrome a decade ago now… it won't be quite as raucous in the stands on Sunday night because of the COVID restrictions, but there should be plenty of drama on the pitch between Marseille and Lille…
