AS Saint-Etienne are top of Ligue 1 Uber Eats after four rounds of games despite being pegged back by FC Nantes; while RC Strasbourg pulled off the foot of the table with victory over Dijon. Wins also for Montpellier Hérault SC, Stade Brestois 29 and FC Metz.

FC Nantes 2-2 AS Saint-Etienne

Saint-Etienne looked on course for their fourth win on the bounce after maiden French top-flight goals from Adil Aouchiche and Yvann Maçon, but Moses Simon and Renaud Edmond struck back for Nantes in a 2-2 draw at the Stade de la Beaujoire.

The game was only two minutes old when Paris Saint-Germain academy product Aouchiche poked home after Yvan Neyou had teed him up. Randal Kolo thought he had restored parity on the stroke of half-time, but his header was ruled out with the player who had crossed - Moses Simon - adjudged to have been offside. Maçon made it 2-0 with a shot which left home goalkeeper Alban Lafont with no chance, but Simon pulled one back before Belgian attacker Emond came off the bench to grab his first Nantes goal five minutes from time.

Montpellier Hérault SC 4-1 Angers SCO

Elsewhere, Montpellier Hérault SC pulled onto the podium with a 4-1 dismissal of Angers SCO. Andy Delort was in irrepressible form at the Stade de la Mosson, scoring either side of half-time after Arnaud Souquet and Stéphane Bahoken had exchanged early goals. Delort's strike partner Gaëtan Laborde then laid on his third assist of the game as substitute Florent Mollet put the game beyond doubt late on. Michel Der Zakarian's men - eighth last season - have three consecutive wins to their name, with only Sainté and Stade Rennais FC above them in the table.

Stade Brestois 29 3-2 FC Lorient

Stade Brestois 29 took Breton derby spoils at home to FC Lorient, but they were made to work by last season's Ligue 2 BKT champions. After a slow start at the Stade Francis-Le Blé, the game exploded into action just past the half-hour when Romain Perraud and Steve Mounié scored in quick succession to put the hosts 2-0 up, only for Christophe Hérelle's own goal to keep them honest. Franck Honorat looked to have made the game safe just past the hour, but Lorient dug in and pulled one back in injury time through Thomas Monconduit. Brest climb into the top half of the table with the three points.

RC Strasbourg Alsace 1-0 Dijon FCO

RC Strasbourg Alsace pulled off the foot of the table with Stefan Mitrovic firing them to a 1-0 win over Dijon FCO at the Stade de la Meinau. Le Racing were more dominant than the scoreline might suggest, with Adrien Thomasson seeing a goal disallowed after Ludovic Ajorque had handballed before the striker had a penalty claim waved away by referee Florrent Batta. Centre-back Mitrovic had the final say, though, the captain heading home Dimitri Liénard's cross 10 minutes from time.

FC Metz 2-1 Stade de Reims

FC Metz secured their first win of the season, meanwhile, Ibrahima Niane scoring twice in their 2-1 victory over Stade de Reims. Boulaye Dia had cancelled out the Senegalese striker's first-half opener with a penalty at the end of the half, but Niane had the final word for Metz, tucking home compatriot Pape Ndiaga Yade's delivery late on.
