OGC Nice pulled up to fifth in the Ligue 1 Uber Eats table, with Pierre Lees-Melou, Amine Gouiri and Myziane Maolida on target in a 3-1 win for Patrick Vieira's side at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.
AS Saint-Etienne 1-3 OGC Nice
Les Aiglons were without Kasper Dolberg for the match, the Dane injuring his ankle in his nation's 1-0 win over England on Wednesday, but the visitors maintained plenty of attacking verve and took the lead inside 10 minutes when Lees-Melou volleyed home after Gouiri's corner spilled out to him (8'). Gouiri then turned taker on the half-hour, tapping into an empty goal after a defensive mix-up (30').
Adil Aouchiche pulled one back (57') but Nice added gloss to the scoreline in injury time, Maolida steering home Dan Ndoy're shot-turned-cross (90'+2) to seal a 3-1 win, and their first three-point haul at Sainté since November 2016.
FC Nantes 3-1 Stade Brestois 29
FC Nantes pulled away from danger, meanwhile, scoring their first win in five games with a 3-1 victory over Stade Brestois 29 at the Stade de la Beaujoire, with Randal Kolo, Ludovic Blas and Kader Bamba on target.
Kolo got the scoring underway early on, calmly slotting home his first Ligue 1 Uber Eats goal when Marcus Coco's shot hit the post and bounced back to him (16'). Blas then doubled les Canaris' lead, breaking into the box and steering a shot into the corner beyond Gautier Larsonneur (30').
Romain Favre ensured a nervy finish when he thumped the ball into the top corner of Larsonneur's opposite number Alban Lafont (68') but the hosts made the game safe when Bamba converted from a Moses Simon cutback (79') to complete the 3-1 win.
AS Monaco 1-1 Montpellier Hérault SC
There was nothing to separate AS Monaco and Montpellier Hérault SC at the Stade Louis II with Stephy Mavididi and Wissam Ben Yedder exchanging goals in a 1-1 draw which leaves both sides on the doorstep of the European places.
Mavididi opened the scoring for visiting Montpellier early in the second half when he brushged off Chrislain Matsima and fired low into the net for his first goal following his summer arrival from Juventus - via a loan spell with Dijon FCO (51').
Ben Yedder then levelled from the penalty spot after Gelson Martins had been fouled in the box by Arnaud Souquet, although last season's 18-goal top scorer was rather lucky to see his shot hit the back of the net with Jonas Omlin getting a hand to it (70').
Angers SCO 1-1 FC Metz
There was also a 1-1 draw at Stade Raymond Kopa, where Angers SCO and FC Metz shared the points after Opa Nguette cancelled out Thomas Mangani's first-half penalty seconds after it was conceded.
Angers drew first blood with Mangani converting from the spot after Matthieu Udol's high foot in the box struck Sofiane Boufal (37'), but Metz equalised from kick-off, Lamine Gueye crossing for Nguette who tapped home from close range (39').
