Neymar and Kylian Mbappé were on the scoresheet while Lionel Messi had two assists as Paris Saint-Germain defeated Toulouse 3-0 on Wednesday to stay in top spot in the Ligue 1 Uber Eats table. Rennes scored a welcome win, but Monaco were surprisingly beaten.

PSG had dropped their first points of the 2022/23 campaign at home to Monaco at the weekend, but Christophe Galtier's side eased back to winning ways in south-west France. Thijs Dallinga tested Gianluigi Donnarumma early as PSG made a slow start, but Messi kickstarted the champions.

Though he was denied a number of times by home goalkeeper Maxime Dupé, his pass for Neymar allowed the Brazil international to fire in the opener and record his seventh league goal already this term (37'). Mbappé then doubled the visitors' lead shortly after the break from another Messi pass (50'), and he would have added a second only for Dupé to push his shot onto a post — Juan Bernat snapped up the rebound (90') to leave PSG ahead of Lens and Marseille on goal difference at the top.

Martin Terrier got the decisive goal a minute from time as Rennes picked up only their second win of the season with a 3-1 derby victory against Brest. After Marco Bizot kept the visitors in the game with a number of first-half saves, Joe Rodon broke the deadlock with a header to net his first Ligue 1 Uber Eats goal (53'). Four minutes later, Franck Honorat levelled (57') and Michel Der Zakarian's team, beaten 7-0 at home by Montpellier at the weekend, looked to be heading for a crucial point only for Terrier to head home (89') with teenage prodigy Desiré Doué netting his first top-flight strike to wrap up the victory in added time (90+1').

Monaco conceded four goals for the second successive home game as Philippe Clément's side were brought down to earth with a big bump by Troyes. Guillermo Maripan opened the scoring just 10 minutes in at the Stade Louis II, but then conceded the penalty from which Florian Tardieu brought the visitors level (22') before the Chile international defender was dismissed a minute from the break. Wilson Odobert's second league goal in as many games (45+3') put Troyes ahead, and Mama Baldé then made it 3-1 (48'). Youssouf Fofana pulled one back (63'), but Yoann Salmier struck (78') to help give Bruno Irles' men back-to-back wins.

Reims scored their first victory of the season and left Angers still waiting for theirs with a 4-2 win at the Stade Raymond Kopa. The hosts battled back from 2-0 down at half-time to level, but a Folarin Balogun penalty — the on-loan Arsenal forward's fourth Ligue 1 Uber Eats goal — restored Reims' advantage (70') with Alexis Flips (89') completing a good night for Oscar Garcia's side.

Strasbourg are also winless following a 1-1 draw with Nantes. Habib Diallo's first-half goal put Julien Stéphan's men on track for victory, but Mostafa Mohamed's second strike in as many French top-flight games (85') secured the Coupe de France holders a point.
