On Sunday at the Stadium de Toulouse, RC Lens clinched three points with a decisive 2-0 road victory over Toulouse FC. This win propels Lens back into contention for European football next season, while despite the loss, Toulouse maintains a safe distance from the relegation zone.

Late in the first half, David Costa broke the deadlock for Lens, firing in the opening goal as one of nine total shots by his side the first 45 minutes, building positive momentum from halftime.

Early in the second half, Lens doubled their lead when Andy Diouf struck in the 55th minute, securing an insurance goal and providing themselves with breathing room.

Toulouse fought an uphill battle, trailing 2-0, but Les Violets fiercely battled to overcome the deficit. After only two total shots in the first half, Toulouse fired off 11 in the second to jumpstart a comeback.

Carles Martínez and his squad's aggressive approach in the second resulted in a penalty kick chance after a VAR review. Vincent Sierro stepped up to take the shot in the 83rd minute but failed to convert, denying Toulouse a chance to narrow the score to 2-1 and mount a late push for the equalizer.

Lens fought off Toulouse's second-half performance to secure three points. Despite currently holding eighth place in the Ligue 1 table, Les Sang et Or are just three points behind LOSC Lille, who occupy fifth place and one of the coveted spots for European competition next season.

After losing to Lens, Toulouse remain in 14th place, just one point above the relegation playoff spot, but none of the teams below them managed to secure wins to surpass them in the table.
