Olympique Lyonnais came from behind to win 2-1 on the road against Montpellier HSC on Sunday at the Stade de la Mosson.

Both squads brought their offensive boots to the contest. Montpellier registered 15 total shots while Lyon countered with 19 total shots. The contest didn't start on a positive note for Pierre Sage and his squad, as Montpellier opened the scoring with a goal from Arnaud Nordin in the 23rd minute.

If OL wanted all three points in the match, they would have to come from behind. Montpellier effectively stifled Lyon's offensive efforts throughout the first half and well into the second, yet Lyon eventually broke through their defense.

Alexandre Lacazette leveled the score in the 74th minute for Lyon, but OL weren't content with only one point. Maxence Caqueret scored the game-winner in the 82nd minute to complete the comeback and secure all three points.

Sage's remarkable tenure continues as Lyon secures another victory and propels them up the Ligue 1 table. Since assuming control in December 2023, Sage has steered Lyon to victory in five of nine Ligue 1 matches, with only Paris Saint-Germain (six wins) boasting a higher number of wins during this timeframe.

It's been a tough start to 2024 for Montpellier in Ligue 1, as they have yet to secure a win this calendar year. Despite the struggles, they're not in the relegation zone, but the lack of wins could soon put them there.

OL will carry their momentum from a three-game winning streak across all competitions into their upcoming clash with OGC Nice on Friday. Montpellier will be eager to secure a comeback victory against FC Metz, recognizing the significance of the match for both teams in their quest to avoid relegation.
