Paris Saint-Germain secured a 2-0 win on the road over FC Nantes on Saturday night at the Stade de la Beaujoire.

After a 2-0 first-leg win over Real Sociedad in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, the Parisians shifted their attention to league play. Manager Luis Enrique opted for players like Ousmane Dembélé and Kylian Mbappé to start the contest on the bench.

FC Nantes were the dominant team in the first half, registering six total shots in the first 45 minutes, while PSG only recorded three total shots. Les Canaris believed their efforts paid off with a goal in the first half stoppage time, but after a VAR review, it was waived off due to offside.

In the second half, PSG improved offensively, as the squad had eight total shots, resulting in two goals. The first goal came from Lucas Hernandez, who let off a shot from outside the box and found the back of the net. Afterward, Mbappé came off the bench and scored on a penalty kick chance for the 2-0 advantage.

Nantes' attack did provide five total shots in the second half as they carried the offensive momentum from the first 45 minutes. Throughout the contest, Jocelyn Gourvennec and his team put a scare into PSG with the scoring chances they created but were unable to find the back of the net.

While not appearing on the scoring sheet, Gianluigi Donnarumma is one of the reasons that Nantes was held scoreless for the match. The 24-year-old made six saves for his clean sheet

PSG will look to continue their winning ways when they welcome Stade Rennais to the Parc des Princes next weekend, while Nantes will be looking for a comeback victory as they face FC Lorient at the Stade du Moustoir-Yves Allainmat in an away game.
