Sunday was bustling with exciting Ligue 1 action as FC Lorient, Toulouse FC, Stade Rennais, and Montpellier HSC secured crucial victories. Here's a look back at the thrilling matches.

Lorient 3-1 RC Strasbourg

Lorient grabbed a crucial victory against Strasbourg, earning themselves three valuable points and a temporary escape from the relegation zone. The standout player of the game was Mohamed Bamba, who netted two goals in the first half, giving his team a 2-0 lead as they headed into halftime.

Julien Ponceau scored the third goal early in the second half, which proved to be enough for Lorient to secure the victory. Despite Strasbourg's response with a goal in the 51st minute, they found it challenging to overcome the deficit.

Toulouse 2-1 Monaco

Toulouse, another team teetering near the relegation zone, secured three points on Sunday with a remarkable victory over Monaco. Adi Hütter and his team could have taken second place from OGC Nice if they had won, but unfortunately, they missed that opportunity.

Vincent Sierro got Toulouse on the board first towards the end of the opening half, but Monaco quickly answered back early in the second half, with Maghnes Akliouche finding the net to even the score. Then, in the 70th minute, another young talent, Logan Costa, stepped up for Toulouse, securing the decisive goal that ultimately sealed the victory for Les Violets.

Montpellier 3-0 FC Metz

Montpellier, another team hovering near the relegation zone, clinched three crucial points. Michel Der Zakarian and his squad took the lead in the second minute with a goal from Issiaga Sylla. In the second half, goals from Modibo Sagnan and Téji Tedy Savanier ensured Montpellier's victory.

Stade Rennais 3-1 Clermont Foot

Rennes continues their impressive form in Ligue 1 under Julien Stéphan as they have now won six league games in a row. Warmed Omari opened the scoring midway through the first half, and Martin Terrier added a brace in the second half to secure the win.

Clermont Foot did put up a fight, as they scored early in the second half, but the deficit proved too much for them to overcome. With other teams around them in the relegation battle earning three points this weekend, the result isn't ideal.
