Jonathan David scored two goals in the final minutes to secure a 2-2 draw for LOSC Lille against Stade Rennais on Sunday at Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

Rennes were aiming for a bounce-back win after losing last week to FC Lorient, and the team came out of the gate in impressive form, scoring in the first minute thanks to a goal from Ludovic Blas.

The second goal for Rennes didn't take long to come as Arnaud Kalimuendo scored in the 20th minute to take a 2-0 lead. Rennes only had five total shots in the first half, but they made the most of their chances.

Lille had eight total shots in the first 45 minutes but couldn't find the back of the net. Steve Mandanda was also a thorn in Lille's attack as the veteran goalkeeper made six saves during the 90 minutes, but toward the end of the contest, Les Dogues finally broke through.

In the second half, Lille took seven shots in total, but they didn't score until the last few minutes of the match. David scored in the 84th minute, bringing the score to 2-1 and in stoppage time, the Canadian player finished off his brace to level the score in dramatic fashion.

The result aids Paulo Fonseca and his team in the battle for a direct spot in the UEFA Champions League next season as Lille now trail second place Stade Brestois, who lost to RC Lens on Saturday, by four points.

As for Rennes, they're currently on a three-game winless streak in Ligue 1 (two draws and one loss) with recent results hurting them in the race to secure a place in a European competition next season.
