On Sunday, we had an exciting day in Ligue 1 with FC Metz and Le Havre obtaining crucial wins in their fight against relegation. Monaco also secured a victory, boosting their chances of clinching a UEFA Champions League place next season. Here's a recap of all the action.

FC Metz 1-0 Clermont Foot

László Bölöni and his team won their second straight Ligue 1 contest, edging out Clermont Foot in a tightly contested battle at the Stade Saint-Symphorien. Georges Mikautadze scored the only goal of the contest on a penalty kick in the 33rd minute.

Metz are still in the direct relegation zone, but their recent performances have improved, giving them a chance to move towards safety while Clermont Foot's loss has put them in a difficult position, widening the gap to avoid relegation.

Le Havre 1-0 Toulouse

Le Club Doyen grabbed three points to help them create distance between themselves and the relegation battle. Christopher Operi scored the game's only goal in the 60th minute, securing the win for Le Havre.

The result also snapped Le Havre's six-game Ligue 1 losing streak that had Luka Elsner and his team hovering near the relegation zone. As for Toulouse, the loss ended their three-game league winning streak, in which they had victories over Monaco, Lille, and OGC Nice.

Monaco 1-0 RC Strasbourg

Adi Hütter and his team seized the opportunity after second place Stade Brestois had lost on Saturday, securing a victory against Strasbourg. Eliesse Ben Seghir scored the only goal in the match off the bench, and it's all Monaco needed for the win and the three points.

Monaco's win extends their unbeaten streak to three games and they now trail Brest by one point. As for Strasbourg, the loss extends their losing streak in Ligue 1 to eight games, leaving them winless in 2024 and dangerously close to the relegation zone.
