Benjamin André has left Stade Rennais FC for Ligue 1 Conforama rivals LOSC, the midfielder signing a four-year, €8m deal on Wednesday evening.
In search of a midfield lynchpin after Thiago Mendes' departure to Olympique Lyonnais, LOSC welcomed Benjamin André on Wednesday.
The defensive midfielder, 28, spent five seasons with Stade Rennais, a club where he established himself as captain and an undisputed starter under a succession of different coaches, racking up 154 Ligue 1 Conforama appearances.
André came through the youth academy at AC Ajaccio before landing in Brittany, making 187 appearances with the Corsican club, 91 of them in Domino's Ligue 2.
Champions League debut
The Frenchman, who won the Coupe de France with Rennes in 2018, is now on track to make his debut in the UEFA Champions League, with LOSC having secured direct qualification for the competition's group stage via their second-placed Ligue 1 Conforama finish in 2018-19.
The recruitment of this vastly experienced midfielder follows those of Timothy Weah (PSG) or Léo Jardim (Rio Ave) in the 2019 summer transfer window.
