Ligue 1 Conforama has been even better than last season! the 2017-18 campaign made history – not only was the competition exceptionally attack-minded, it also set a record for collective attendance, AS 8.5 million fans filled the various stadia over the course of the season.

Goal storm tops Europe

Whether it's the 1,033 goals scored, the lowest total of 0-0s in Europe, or even the unique variety of goalscorers, this season has proven to be the most prolific and spectacular in 35 years! A lot of this is thanks to the performances of an historic top four: PSG, AS Monaco, OL and OM. PSG, who claimed the seventh league title in their history, scored the most goals across the five major European leagues and secured the third-highest points total in the history of the French league.

The Parisians exhibited an ultra-attacking playing style with the services of Neymar Jr (winner of the UNFP trophy for Player of the Season and assist leader in Ligue 1 Conforama), Edinson Cavani (Ligue 1 Conforama top scorer) and Kylian Mbappé (winner of the UNFP trophy for Young Player of the Season).

Down to the wire

Behind them, the race for the top three was full of suspense right up until the final week of the season. On the final matchday, we got confirmation of AS Monaco finishing second, with OL third and OM, whose Europa league final added further gloss to a positive season for Les Phocéens, fourth. This season, there were countless exciting factors throughout the campaign, highlighted by Neymar's world-class skill, but also by Nabil Fekir and Malcom's individual exploits for the breath-taking OL and Bordeaux sides respectively.

The league was further enhanced by the performances of Florian Thauvin (OM), Mario Balotelli (OGC Nice) and Radamel Falcao (AS Monaco). True to its tradition, the French league also saw the emergence of new talents, such as Houssem Aouar (OL), Benjamin Bourigeaud (Stade Rennais FC), Martin Terrier (RC Strasbourg Alsace) and Karl Toko Ekambi (Angers SCO), amongst others.

Some of the key matches offered great moments - like the OM-PSG contest featuring Edinson Cavani's equaliser in the final seconds, the clash of titans PSG and AS Monaco at the Parc des Princes, the Olympico between OM and OL at the Orange Vélodrome, as well as the two meetings between AS Monaco and OL.
