Striker Denis Bouanga has left Nîmes Olympique to join Ghislain Printant's AS Saint-Etienne, signing a four-year, €4.5m deal on Tuesday.

AS Saint-Etienne's transfer activity continues. Four days after the arrival of Bordeaux's Sergi Palencia and Zaydou Youssouf, Les Verts announced the recruitment of a new striker. Denis Bouanga (24), who had a great season 2018-2019 with Nîmes Olympique, signed up with the Rhône valley club through to 2023.

8 goals and 2 assists with the Crocos

Bouanga was one of Nîmes Olympique's revelations last year - his first full season in Ligue 1 Conforama (35 appearances) - building on a solid time in Domino's Ligue 2 (25 goals in 70 matches with Tours FC and FC Lorient). Pacey, a good dribbler and skilful in front of goal, the Gabon international was involved in ten goals for Nîmes in the season just passed (eight goals and two assists).

The signature of the striker, who is ASSE's fifth summer signing after Alpha Sissoko, Harold Moukoudi, Palencia and Youssouf, testifies to Les Verts' desire to intelligently expand their squad ahead of a season that already holds a lot of promise, including a return to the Europa League.

Bouanga: 'A new step'

"It is a great pride and honour to sign at ASSE. I never thought I'd join such a mythical club - and one that is about to play in Europea. For me, this is a new step in my career and I hope to take my game to a new level. I am very excited at the prospect of communing with the Saint-Etienne fans with this green shirt on my shoulders."
