Mbappé to spearhead France against Bolivia

Kylian Mbappé could lead the line for France in Sunday's friendly against Bolivia with Didier Deschamps likely to give the Paris Saint-Germain forward a run-out in his preferred position.

Mbappé helped France win the FIFA World Cup last summer in a wide position with Olivier Giroud the focal point of Les Bleus' attack. Giroud, however, only teamed up with the rest of the squad in Nantes on Saturday afternoon after helping Chelsea win the UEFA Europa League in midweek, leaving Mbappé as Deschamps' most likely option through the middle.

"He can play in every position in attack, on his own or in a two. Of course, he's more about getting in behind, about speed. On the flank, he finds himself in different situations to when he's alone through the middle where he often has his back to goal," said Deschamps, who suggested the 2018/19 Ligue 1 Conforama top scorer will return to the flank with Giroud reinstalled for the UEFA EURO 2020 qualifier against Turkey on 8 June.

"In that case, his heading ability has less of an impact than Olivier's, especially from crosses. Like every striker, he prefers being in the centre as he can score more goals and work less defensively."

Giroud's Chelsea teammate N'Golo Kanté is also set to sit out the game at the Stade de la Beaujoire leaving Olympique Lyonnais' Tanguy Ndombele to make his second start for his country, slotting in alongside Paul Pogba.

PSG goalkeeper Alphonse Areola will start in goal with France captain Hugo Lloris having featured for Tottenham Hotspur in their UEFA Champions League final defeat to Liverpool.
