Adrien Silva - who spent the second half of last season at AS Monaco - has returned to the principality club on loan from English Premier League side Leicester City.
Monaco have endured a difficult start to the season, losing their opening two games 3-0 to first Olympique Lyonnais and then FC Metz. But Silva, who won five of his 15 games with Monaco in 2018-19, is sure he can help turn the club around.
"Monaco have confidence in me," he explained to the club's official website. "It's a pleasure to be on the pitch here. How you feel is important. I gave everything in my first spell here. After a difficult battle last year, I'm ready for a new challenge. I want to help the club recover its rightful place [in French football]."
Monaco were French champions as recently as 2017, while Silva was a UEFA European Champion with Portugal the previous year. The midfielder could get the chance to push back towards similar heights on Sunday, when Les Rouges et Blancs welcome Nîmes Olympique to the Stade Louis II.
